Sheila was born in San Francisco, California and she is a primarily self-taught artist. She draws in pencil, charcoal, ink, and sometimes uses watercolor. As a boy Steven was a fan of comics. He started by taking comic illustration classes at the Heron Art School in Indianapolis.
