L’artista grafico ed ex sceneggiatore di Crystal Lake, Illinois, Todd Alcott si è fatto apprezzare adattando le copertine e le illustrazioni dei libri pulp della metà del secolo con testi classici come quelli di David Bowie, Prince, Bob Dylan e Talking Heads. “Il design di metà secolo non è mai stato superato”, dice. “E per quanto stia rendendo omaggio a queste canzoni che amo, sto anche rendendo omaggio a questi designer il cui lavoro è stato dimenticato. È come se prendessi una canzone e la inserissi in un contesto completamente diverso, e spero di illuminare entrambe le cose in un modo mai visto prima. Questo è il mio obiettivo.” 

Graphic artist from Crystal Lake, Illinois, Todd Alcott has endeared himself  by retrofitting midcentury pulp paperback covers and illustrations with classic lyrics from the likes of David Bowie, Prince, Bob Dylan, and Talking Heads. “Mid-century design has never been topped,” he says. “And as much as I’m paying tribute to these songs I love, I’m also paying tribute to these designers whose work has come and gone and people don’t think about it anymore. It’s like I’m taking a song lyric and I’m putting it into a completely different context, and hopefully I’m illuminating both in a way that people haven’t thought about them before. That’s my mission”
