Born and raised in New Mexico, Romero draws inspiration from his homeland. His allegorical figurative paintings echo the Old Masters in technique and methodology. Catholicism, mythology and the social landscape of New Mexico influenced his oil paintings to tell a rich story of culture and mysticism. Working in oils, he tirelessly and painstakingly pays close attention to detail within the paintings and often depicts the hidden symbology within the composition. A self-taught artist, his paintings combine bold colors with metaphorical imagery.
